We are enjoying the winter, but are planning for spring. Today we mailed in our order for trees to plant as soon as the ground thaws. We purchased white birch, high bush cranberries, American larch, Canadian Hemlock (Aren't we the international name droppers?), jack pine, red pine, autumn blaze maple and a sugar maple. Some of these are 12 inches high, cost one dollar each, and are bundled in groups of ten. A few are 8 feet tall, $45 each and bought individually. The rest are in between. These are all bare root and taken from the ground as soon as physically possible. Then the nursery sends us an email to pick them up right away. For the past three years we have done this with great success. We love to plant trees.
Anyone who saw our yard in Mt. Prospect could attest to that fact. We don't need to hold back any more. We live in the Northwoods.
